I was very impressed with the idea that Marc would come to the house and work with Lizzie and I. He had her under control within 5 minutes of entering our house.

Thank you Marc,
Our dog Jimi was very aggressive due to being abused as a puppy and also possessed a great deal of anxiety and other issues. Jimi is also very intelligent and was able to manipulate other training methods to his advantage. When Marc met Jimi he was highly aggressive towards him and tried to bite through a steel cage to get to him. Even when we took Jimi outside of the home into a neutral area he was still very aggressive towards the trainers and had to be muzzled. The Professional Trainers took over the handling of Jimi and in less that ten minutes the trainers were able to remove the muzzle and interact with Jimi and he was following basic commands given by the trainers. After a couple of private lessons Jimi was cleared to enter the group classes and did fine. Jimi was not aggressive towards the other dogs in the class or the other persons attending the class. Jimi still has a ways to go in his learning process but he is now doing very well as he continues to build his confidence and trust which has began to relieve his anxiety and stress as well as some of his other issues. We feel very strongly that the training provided by Marc will assist us and Jimi in meeting our goals and help Jimi live a happier and less stressful life. Thanks to the training we received we were able to adopt and rescue another dog and bring her into the home to live with Jimi without any problems. Shelby (on the left) also attended training with Marc and is learning proper walking on the leash as well as many other great behaviors.

Thanks Marc,
When I took my Giant Schnauzer Puppy, Frankie, to Obedience training, at 14 weeks old she was the youngest pup in the class. She is intelligent and could quickly pick up the obedience instructions, but true to her breed she was stranger aloof and sometimes hesitant to interact with the trainers often times giving one of them a growl when she approached us. For this reason, one of the instructors in this group called me at home and suggested that I return my dog to the breeder. She told me that even show dogs produce bad dogs and she thought my puppy “had issues”. Returning my pup is something I would never have considered, and this instructor made me realize there had to be better dog trainers out there who understood different breeds and different needs. I set out to find the trainer who could understand the Giant Schnauzer and help me develop Frankie’s full potential. After interviewing two other dog trainers, I met Marc Pensyl of Centre County Dog Training. Within 10 minutes, I knew Marc would be entrusted by both Frankie and me to take on the job of training us to work together as a team. Frankie responded to Marc without growling and Marc responded well to Frankie. She was hesitant and leery of Marc at first, but that is the nature of her breed and Marc respected this and showed us how to work through this issue very quickly. Marc taught me how to be confident and work with Frankie, so that she would work with me and respond to my confidence in her in return. Frankie came a long way with Marc’s formal instruction and lots of work and dedication on my part to reinforce what Marc taught us. Working together to be better is something we will always continue to do. Marc is always available to answer my dog training questions, talk with me about any continuing issues and guide us on the proper techniques to continue our obedience training together. On a recent visit to the vet, an older gentleman commented that he had been watching me interact with my dog and was amazed at how well she listened and responded to commands. He told me he was truly impressed. I told him to call Marc at Centre County Dog Training. -Beth Duffy and Frankie, State College

Lizzie, my Old English Sheepdog, started with Marc in the Spring of 2008. Lizzie was completely out of control when someone would come to the door. She loves people, and would jump on them and proceed to run around the house. Let's put it this way, I had trouble controlling her enthusiasm. I have worked with other trainers but always outside of the home. I was very impressed with the idea that Marc would come to the house and work with Lizzie and I. He had her under control within 5 minutes of entering our house. After the three personal lessons I felt like I had a newly trained puppy of three. I was also able to control her on walks around the block. Her behavior is more acceptable when we have visitors. We also make it a point of attend the park classes that Marc holds every Saturday morning. It is fun for us and our dogs.

I am pleased with the program that you offer for dog training. I have talked with others and they agree with me plus we can compare because we have been to other trainers and choose not to return. Happy trails!

Marc,
We got Brandy as a 5 ½ year old dog that had never been trained or socialized and spent most of her time in a crate. Given that Brandy was an older dog, we decided that individual training would best suit her. We chose Centre County Dog Training because of the individual training as well the opportunity to spend two years in park class with other dogs. Since we’ve started training with Brandy, she’s become much more obedient, yet she’s retained her energetic and playful nature. Since Brandy’s been exposed to other dogs, she has developed a bit of an aggressive nature, which concerns us. Centre County Dog Training has been very helpful as it’s allowed us to work toward averting this behavior in a controlled and structured environment. We now have her off leash running in the gamelands without cause for concern, and she walks with us so very nicely. When our neighbor walked Brandy one day she exclaimed what a wonderful dog she is and how well she "heels". We keep urging our friends to go to Marc, as Brandy is the best behaved dog that we know - if only everyone went through Centre County Dog Training to spend the time to train their dogs!
